YSRCP Files Writ Petition Against Union of India; Andhra Pradesh HC Issues Notice to Third Respondent
The Andhra Pradesh High Court's Division Bench has issued notice in a writ petition filed by YSRCP against the Union of India, directing respondents to file counters before the next date of hearing on 13 August 2026.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and another petitioner have approached the High Court of Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati by way of Writ Petition No. 15682 of 2026, arraying the Union of India and others as respondents. On 18 June 2026, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice R. Raghunandan Rao took up the matter and issued directions for service of notice and filing of counter-affidavits. The matter is at a preliminary stage, with the next date of hearing fixed for 13 August 2026.
Appearance of Counsel and Acceptance of Notice
Mr. Jupudi V.K. Yagna Dutt, Central Government Counsel, accepted notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 and 2, being the Union of India. Mrs. S. Pranathi, Special Government Pleader attached to the Office of the learned Advocate General, accepted notice on behalf of respondent No. 4. The petitioners were represented by Mr. S. Sriram, Senior Counsel, assisted by Mr. Sai Saran Chodisetty.
Directions Issued by the Division Bench
The Division Bench directed that notice be issued to respondent No. 3, for whom personal service was also permitted. Respondent Nos. 1, 2, and 4 were directed to file their counter-affidavits well before the next date of hearing. The matter has been listed for 13 August 2026.
